I am Zheng Wei, an illustrator and designer. I graduated from Wuhan Institute of Technology with a degree in visual communication design in 2018. In the same year, I published the only Buddhist picture book in mainland China, "Jixiang Huiben", which was painted with thick painting techniques. I created my personal Weibo account "Wanqing Illustrations" and continued to publish my works.

In the past seven years, I have been studying Dunhuang culture and Buddhist statue design, and have created more than 50 personal original Buddhist statue works and several long-form cartoons. These works, combined with modern digital illustration techniques, show the unique charm of Dunhuang art, which is rich in modern fashion culture and profound Chinese culture.

 

My works not only enrich the cultural connotation of art design, but also promote the inheritance and development of Dunhuang culture. Therefore, they are loved by many institutions and individuals, and have been reposted many times by major WeChat public accounts such as "Tencent Buddhism", "Xiao Seng Huo", "Jiangxi Lushan Donglin Temple", "Pushou Temple Three Plus One", "Dangyang Yuquan Temple", "Honghua Society", "Yangzhou Daming Temple", "Yunxi County Xumi Mountain Guanyin Zen Temple", and Weibo accounts such as "Shi Xiaobai Little Monk" and "Senghuo Buer".

 

In addition, my works have won many national and international art and design awards, such as the Silver and Bronze Awards of the First Season of the 4th ICAD International Contemporary Youth Art Design Competition, the Silver Award of the 2024 H. C. Andersen (International) Art Award, the Silver Award of the "Dialogue with the World in the Art Space " 2024 China-Italy International Art Biennale, the Silver Award and Bronze Award of the 3rd Hongkong and Mainland Design Works Exhibition, etc. Many works have been exhibited in many internationally renowned venues, including the China Millennium Monument in Beijing, the Crystal Palace in Rome, Italy, the Kyoto International Conference Center in Japan, and the Odense City Hall in Denmark.
